Go Away, Jennifer Lawrence!

Do you remember that feeling five years ago?  That feeling when you were first hearing about Jennifer Lawrence, the young actress who was going to be playing Katniss Everdeen, and Mystique.  Maybe you remembered her from Winter’s Bone, and were happy to see she was coming up.  She was the girl next door, she was modest, she kept it real, and just happened to play some of your favorite nerdy characters.  You couldn’t get enough Jennifer Lawrence. Well, I’ve had enough Jennifer Lawrence.  What a difference five years makes.  In fact, I kind of wish she would go away.  She’s complained so much about having to portray Mystique in the X-Men movies, that it almost ruins the movie for me.   While I’m trying to get lost in an imaginary world of mutants and superpowers, I can’t help but hear her complain every time she’s on screen.  Early reviews say it even shows in her performance in the latest installment, X-Men: Apocalypse.  So between possibly being uninterested in the material, and having to go through a grueling makeup process, that’s surely enough to make her move on once fulfilling her contract right? Fassbender and McAvoy and I were all talking. Like, ‘Will you come back?’ ‘I dunno.’ ‘I’ll come back, if you come back.’ Fox should be terrified because the deal we made was like if one of us doesn’t come back, none of us are. … I would love to come back. I love the fans and I love the character. But then you realize how important your year is, like how important three months out of your year is. I don’t know. I shouldn’t be that honest.Fox should be terrified?!?  WHAT?  Why?  Because they won’t have to put up with a mopey J Law on set? Or maybe they won’t have you detracting from the promotion of the film with your antics? Or is it because they won’t have to pay her the reported $8 million salary for Apocalypse?  By the by, her asking salary is now $15-20 million.  Let’s face it – I’ve never gone to see an X-Men movie because I was just so excited to see how Mystique turned out.  Furthermore, I honestly couldn’t care less who was playing Mystique. Side note: I think J Law is the worst of any Mystique I’ve seen. Side side note: Could you not call out your friends/co-workers in what I’m sure was a private conversation.  Or even better, just go away.  We discuss this further, and numerous other topics in the latest installment of the “Geek Versus Week” podcast.  Listen below or subscribe in your favorite podcast app. Enough about what I think, what do you think?  Would you hate to see her leave the X-Men franchise?    Or do you just want her to go away?
