Puppy. Monkey. Baby. Three words that will live in infamy for many. But for others, a genius creation from the lab of Dr. Moreau, born to sell Mountain Dew Kickstart, the beverage that claims to be three awesome things combined. So how else to market three awesome things? With three awesome things of course! Curiosity got the best of me, and I just had to know who or what came up with this campaign.
Turns out it was the creation of the BBDO ad agency, who just so happened to of been awarded U.S. Agency of the year last year, but Adweek. You may recognize their previous bizarre works such as the Danny Trejo/ Marsha Brady snickers commercial and the previous Superbowl Kickstart commercial (that was a blatant rip off of “Turn Down for What.” But for their latest installment, the rumor is that the agency simply took three of the top advertisement subjects and combined them into one. In fact, numerous commercials in this year’s Superbowl alone featured puppies and babies. But only one starred “Puppy Monkey Baby.”
