About the “Geek Vs” podcast
Things are about to get weird when Tony, Casey, and Betty get together weekly to provide a “nerd’s eye view of pop culture.” These only children geeks have somehow managed not to kill each other, as they do battle with movies, television, and all things pop culture. If you like comedy podcasts with a twist of geekery, you should check out Geek Vs – A pop culture comedy podcast. Proud member of the Giant Size Team Up Network
Hey everybody thanks for tuning in to the key words as podcast nerds I view pop culture and the show's pro partner the giant sized team up network. This is one of the new many episodes are doing case you missed the
last little episode where I explained will format change we're doing many episodes now. So what does that mean? many episodes will be 10 minutes or so long. Maybe just something with me maybe me in case I mean maybe me and Betty, Betty and Casey, me and Betty whatever it is that what the three people combination, we may even have guests and being a guest may have someone come in and just talk about something just trying to mix it up and it helps with some personal scheduling To be honest, so new many formats. So today and this new mini format I'm talking to Sam
I actually got to see it like weeks ago thanks to a
Fandango, like early release that they do every now and then I'm pretty much the point of those is to just get people out and seeing the movie and start having legit reviews and, you know, have some positive press, which it worked because I loved it and gave it all sorts of positive reviews and positive press and a lot of people who saw the same weekend also liked it. So should you see it? Yes, most definitely.
Far as DC movies go, probably one of the best DC has
not been known for some of their good movies.
AKA man was okay a lot of people dug Aqua man. I found it a little boring.
But this this I really enjoyed it was a lot of fun. And for those that don't know, she's Zam it's basically a kid who gets superpowers. That's the gist of it. And so you can only imagine the fun and excitement of you know, like a middle school kid who all of a sudden turns into an adult and get superpower. So that's another thing. It's not just the kid with powers, he turns into like a grown man in a suit that he can't really he never takes off
with a cape and superpowers. So the the fun of the movie is him learning the powers, trying to figure out what does work.
Tonight there's an instruction manual for the older people kind of reminded me of the greatest American hero. But I do think that came with a book if I remember correctly. This did not. This is a kid trying to figure out what superpowers he has and and how to use them. Because of that it is a super friendly fun family movie. Try saying that three times. Fun fact.
I had to do a second take and edit that in. But it is a fun, friendly family movie. No, see, there it goes again, that you can take your kids to you could take your family too. There's one or two scenes that kind of caught me off guard where like a smoke demon monster bites off someone's head. It's not bloody or gory or anything but it just, you know, for the tone of the movie was a little a little quote unquote scary but other than that, you know, there's no language, no sex, no blood. Just a fun
Kids movie that summer comparing to Goonies and movies a lot like so. That might have been another reason I liked it. It did have that fun. Kid Goonies vibe. Obviously in this review, I will not spoil anything. But it also has a good message and a cool, unique family dynamic. Even if you don't know who he is. A lot of you will recognize Zachary Levi. He's just been around. He's that dude. He was big and Chuck for a while, which I didn't really watch. But a lot of my friends really loved it said it was hilarious. I take their word for it. I believe them. I just didn't watch it. I also forgot and I did watch. Marvelous Mrs. nasal. He has a small part in the second season of that. So a lot of people are saying is that guy I don't know him. He's the one that places and he's the one that has to have.
The role of playing a child with powers and he does a great job makes it hilarious. Without again without spoiling anything, him trying to figure out what the powers do is my personal favorite. I was cracking up. Even Three weeks later, I'm still cracking up thinking about it. The average Joe will not know this, but the casual comic fans do know. Suzanne was originally called Captain Marvel. And it's not Captain Marvel, the Marvel movie. It's Captain Marvel, the DC comic, but thanks to lawsuits and changes and confusion, they finally ended up changing DCs Captain Marvel to just calling him she's Zam which is his catchphrase it says the word says and gets the powers of the gods. Lot of people just thought in English is am anyway and refer to him issues and so they said we're dropping the Captain Marvel find you when you can have it. So the Captain Marvel movie is Carol Danvers.
Which also came out pretty close to. This is a movie who's no longer Captain Marvel, which is by DC. So that's really it. I read an article post on Facebook the other day, where people are complaining about, you know, rotten tomatoes and movie reviews and who can we trust and blah, blah, blah.
This is by no means the greatest movie in the world. But if you haven't been in the movie in a while you want something fun and light hearted. And also that superhero genre without having to catch up on 20 other movies. This is the one want to bring your kids you want to go to a matinee. This is definitely a fun one. where kids and adults will both laugh like maybe don't want to go to the movie. Definitely run it when you get a chance. It is a fun one to rent. And I you know, I mean I can't promise you'll enjoy yourself. I don't know your life like that. You may have some other stuff going on, but it's definitely a fun movie that most people I can promise most people will
Enjoy it. So folks, that is it. I'm going to wrap this up we have to give a special thanks to all of our patrons firstname.lastname@example.org backslash geek versus a check out all the other shows in the Genesis team of network. And until we meet again, be kind rewind
