Star Trek Discovery is getting pirated a lot.

Had you asked me 150 episodes ago what we would be talking about on this show, I probably wouldn’t of said “horse mustaches” yet here we are.  We balance it out with some Blade runner talk as well before we get to the news wrapping up with the massive piracy of Star Trek Discovery. In the news this week

Disney Forced ABC to Renew Agents of Shield

Production is well underway on the fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., though a new report claims it almost didn’t happen. But, when it comes to these decisions, Disney trumps ABC — and the Mouse House may have saved these Marvel heroes in the nick of time.

SNES Mini Released

The NES mini was a huge success, but very much a first effort from Nintendo ripe for improvement. Fine for more casual gamers, the experience for enthusiasts was let down by flaws including subpar video scaling, ultra-short controller cords, audio lag and a range of minor emulation issues. The good news is that Nintendo has improved the quality of its emulation, successfully simulated a range of custom, cart-specific hardware in the process and done it all using the same cheap mobile chipset as its predecessor. It’s an ambitious effort for sure, but to what extent does it accurately match original hardware?

Twitter is Doubling it’s Character Limit

Twitter is experimenting with doubling the length of a tweet from 140 characters to 280 characters. The company wrote in a blog post on Tuesday it was rolling out 280-character limit tweets to “a small group” of users who tweet in languages that may have had issues with trying to fit everything they want to say. “We understand since many of you have been Tweeting for years, there may be an emotional attachment to 140 characters – we felt it, too,” Twitter product manager Aliza Rosen wrote. “But we tried this, saw the power of what it will do, and fell in love with this new, still brief, constraint.”

Burger King Russia trying to ban “IT”

The big screen adaptation of Stephen King‘s It has been busting box office records here in America, and has been doing pretty well overseas, too. That said, one country has slapped Pennywise the Dancing Clown with an adversary far more formidable than the Losers’ Club: Russian Burger King. It seems that Burger King has filed a claim in Russian court to get It banned from national screens.

Star Trek Discovery is a top Pirated Show

Almost 10 million people tuned in to CBS on Sunday to watch the premiere of Star Trek: Discovery. And the premiere also drove record signups for CBS’ proprietary streaming service, which will be the exclusive source for later episodes of the new Star Trek series.

But others have turned to good old-fashioned Internet piracy to get their Star Trek fix.

The premiere of Star Trek: Discovery is the twelfth most actively pirated show among users of the Pirate Bay right now, according to the Pirate Bay’s list of most downloaded videos. Discovery’s second episode isn’t far behind, at number 19.

Disney Afternoon Games are Returning

disney collection

Life is like a hurricane…

If you don’t remember the Disney Afternoon cartoon block, I feel bad for you, son.  Before the Berlanti-verse, we had the intertwined adventures of Disney characters.  And you know, now that I think about it, they all had AMAZING theme songs to boot. Well, of course Disney cashed in an made video games at the time, but now Capcom is planning to release them all in one bundle.  Personally, I remember loving Rescue Rangers, and Ducktales, but never quite understood why Uncle Scrooge hopped around on his cane.  So will you be picking this one up?

From Nerdist

In the early ’90s, the Disney Afternoon gave us a full two-hour-+ block of shows featuring beloved characters, including the giant among them, DuckTales. And before Nintendo switched to the SNES, Capcom adapted four of the Disney Afternoon shows into games for the NES. For the better part of two decades, those games have been officially locked away. But starting next month, all six of the Disney Afternoon games will be back in play! source: http://nerdist.com/capcom-is-re-releasing-all-of-the-classic-nes-disney-afternoon-games/

Here It Is – New Ducktales Trailer

ducktales

I’m just gonna come out and say it, I’m not too excited to check out this new version of DuckTales.  In fact, it took me a few days to even check out the trailer below, why you ask?  It’s just not MY DuckTales.  Yeah, I’m pulling out the nostalgia card on this one, and I don’t have any shame.  DuckTales was MUST WATCH for me After school around 4pm.  Then my friends and I would watch it again an hour later when it came on WGN.  It was that serious.  I love the cast, I love they’re bringing it back, I just won’t be first in line to check it out.

Scrooge McDuck and his misfit great-nephews are coming back for some brand-new adventures, and now we finally have our first look at Disney’s rebooted Duck Tales .
